Gutter Cleaning in Portland, OR
Portland's massive maples, firs, and cedars fill gutters fast. Before the rainy season hits, make sure your gutters and downspouts are clear and flowing properly.
Gutters and the Portland Rainy Season
Portland gets somewhere between 36–45 inches of rain per year — and almost all of it falls between October and April. During those months, your gutters are working harder than at any other time of year. If they're clogged when the rains hit, all that water has to go somewhere else: down your siding, against your foundation, or into your basement.
Portland's tree canopy is one of the things that makes the city beautiful — but big-leaf maples, Douglas firs, and ornamental cherries all shed heavily. A full maple can drop enough leaves to pack a gutter solid in a single fall storm. Pine needles and seed helicopters from maples are especially problematic because they clump and hold moisture, turning into a dense mat that's impossible to flush without manual removal.
We recommend Portland homeowners clean gutters in late fall before the rains arrive and again in late spring once the shedding season is over. If you're also due for a roof moss treatment or want to bundle with window cleaning, we can do it all in one visit. Check our pricing page for starting estimates.

Our Gutter Cleaning Process
Roof & Gutter Inspection
We assess the gutters from the ground and on the ladder, checking for sags, separations, end cap leaks, and any damage before we start.
Debris Removal
All leaves, pine needles, roof grit, and organic buildup are cleared out by hand and collected — we don't just blow everything onto your landscaping.
Flush the Gutters
We run water through the gutters to confirm they're flowing correctly and identify any low spots where water may be pooling.
Flush the Downspouts
Every downspout is flushed from the top down to confirm flow. Clogs are cleared. If a downspout is underground-connected, we test the inlet.
Report & Clean Up
Any damage or concerning issues are noted and we let you know before we leave. Debris goes with us — we don't leave a mess in your yard.

How often should I clean my gutters in Portland?
Twice a year is the standard recommendation for Portland homes — late spring after seed pods and early-season debris, and late fall after the leaves have dropped. Homes under Douglas firs or big-leaf maples may need more frequent cleaning, as these trees shed heavily and their debris is particularly prone to clumping and causing clogs.
What happens if I don't clean my gutters?
Clogged gutters overflow, and that water goes somewhere. Usually that means it runs down the fascia board and siding (causing rot), against the foundation (causing settling or basement leaks), or it backs up under the roofline. In Portland, clogged gutters also become prime moss habitat, which speeds up their deterioration.
Do you clean gutters on two-story homes?
Yes. We carry appropriate ladders and equipment for two-story and some three-story work. We're also insured, which matters when working at height. Steep-pitched roofs or very tall homes may require additional equipment — we'll let you know during the quote.
Should I get my gutters cleaned before or after the rainy season?
Ideally both — late October/early November (after leaves have fallen but before the heavy rains) is the most important time. A late spring cleaning after tree pollen and seed pods have dropped is also a good practice. This keeps your gutters clear and functioning all year.
